The B.S. Show

Brian Sabean was on KNBR this last afternoon.

Ralph spent the first part talking about the Manny trade. Then, other trades; I actually found myself surprised that I agreed with him about the Pudge trade to the Yankees.

He also spent time on what the Giants didn't do for trades, and tried to get Sabean to explain why nothing happened after Durham. It didn't work. Ralph was nice; B.S. was slow, vague, deep in tone, vague, trailing off, and vague. In other words, it turns out that in a severe revelation of cosmic appropriation, the man's initials do in fact make sense. Hint: specifics help us trust you, Brian.

But that wasn't the best part: Not only did he say that the veterans "have done a good job for us so far as what they've brought to the club", he also followed that with "but now we've got to shift gears and figure out who hits where and when" and admitted that "everyone knows what's been happening with us". Hello, sir? SHIFT GEARS? It's past the trading deadline for God's sake. You should have been "shifting gears" after Spring Training. Thank God he said the youth will finally be playing in the middle-infield. But where was that mentality when we were already 13 games out? Sad. Just sad.

He's not irrational, but I don't feel any better.
